The postdoctoral fellowship at the Advocate Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) provides advanced clinical training and supervision in providing trauma~informed care to survivors of intentional violence in both medical out~patient and inpatient settings. Postdoctoral fellows provide a range of evidence based direct services to individuals, families, and groups utilizing brief, solution~focused, trauma~informed framework across multiple settings (clinic~based, hospital, and community~based). A primary role of the postdoctoral fellow is to provide early intervention services to individuals in the hospital, and the TRC offers the opportunity for advanced training working as part of an interdisciplinary team within a large hospital system.
Each fellow will work in both the outpatient clinic (TRC) and the inpatient hospital for the duration of the fellowship. This allows each fellow to continue to hone their general clinical skills by carrying an outpatient caseload, while developing skills within clinical health psychology by providing behavioral health consultant services in the hospital. The fellows will work as members of interdisciplinary care teams within the hospital to provide behavioral health consultation and supportive therapy services to adult patients in the emergency department, surgical trauma ICU, and medical trauma units.
Additional training opportunities include: providing education and consultation regarding the etiology, treatment and prevention of emotional/behavioral disorders to professionals, community organizations and others community outreach participation in programs offered to recently incarcerated individuals and secondary supervision of advanced practicum students.
Direct Service: Provides individual, couple and family therapy services utilizing a solution focused, brief therapy framework under doctoral level supervision.

Recordkeeping: Completes various administrative and insurance forms to assure accurate data collection for billing, management information system, and other purposes in accord with agency policies and procedures.
Agency and Training Activities: Actively participates in agency activities and in the community in ways that make a positive contribution to agency operations.
