Continuous improvement Engineer

Located in Deeside, we are currently working in conjunction with a growing and highly regarding International manufacturing firm who are now looking to appoint a Continuous Improvement Engineer on a permanent basis. The primary purpose of the role will be to identify, facilitate and drive a wide range of operational improvements using Lean and Six Sigma principles across our manufacturing facilities. The role will be based in Deeside but able to travel to support other UK locations when projects demand. Some overseas travel may also be required from time to time. Ideally for this role we are looking for someone with around 5 years post degree experience, minimum of Green Belt or equivalent lean training, and a track record of implementing operational improvements using Lean. Previous experience in the following areas would be ideally suited to this role: Value Stream Mapping quick changeover / SMED value analysis, line balancing, standard work design and implementation of Kanban Problem solving techniques (5whys, A3) Error proofing Visual management Within the role of Continuous Improvement Engineer, your key tasks and responsibilities are outlined below: Working with a variety of operational teams including manufacturing, purchasing and sales order processing using a variety of tools such as VSM and operational KPI s to identify opportunities for improvement, eliminate waste and simplify our value streams. Applying Lean principles using techniques such as Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, 5S, 5 Whys, Problem Solving and visual management etc. Plan, organise and schedule improvement projects to run alongside production with minimal impact Training, coaching and mentoring project and production teams to promote and instil Lean philosophy, provide project leadership, coaching and lasting performance improvement Facilitate change by maintaining excellent two-way communication with employees collectively via regular team briefings. Tracking and documenting all improvements to evaluate their effectiveness and benefit, ensure sustainability and communicate results to enable approach to be leveraged in other areas. Gathering and analysing accurate information to facilitate effective decision-making. Initiating capex proposals to support change from concept through feasibility to implementation.
