Calling all Psychology & Counselling Graduates - Summertown, Oxford Mental Health Support Assistant Wanted Full-time position starting ASAP Are you an aspiring psychologist, counsellor or therapist looking for experience in mental health? Do you want to gain first-hand experience supporting the mental health of children? An inclusive, specialist school is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The pupils have a range of difficulties, such as ASD, attachment difficulties and a range of mental health needs. The perfect candidate will therefore need to be proactive, understanding and ready for a challenge! Located near Summerton, Oxford, this Mental Health Specialist School caters for a variety of additional needs. The pupils range from 5 to 18 and have significant developmental trauma, emotional needs and behavioural challenges. The pupils therefore require a Teaching Assistant who understands their complex needs and can adapt to the requirements of each child. The perfect candidate will be resilient, compassionate and ready for a challenge! In this role you will gain invaluable experience working with young people with significant needs and learn how to communicate and support them, through the help of trained professionals. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone aspiring to become an educational psychologist, cognitive psychologist, therapist, counsellor, teacher or even a criminal justice officer! Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology would be perfect for this. A candidate with experience with SEN children and/or adults would also be ideal, alongside those with mental health experience and/or knowledge. The SEMH School is looking for a Mental Health Assistant/Teaching Assistant who can bring enthusiasm, passion and experience to the classroom. They are looking for a SEN TA who will be proactive and flexible and be able to use their own initiative. Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour is beneficial!
