A National Construction Materials business is recruiting a Logistics Director to join their operational leadership team in the Home Counties area. The Logistics Director will have the following Responsibilities: To ensure the group's operational control centre (Logistics Centre) plans, fulfils, co-ordinates and monitors the service demands of the individual businesses within the group to enable them to meet all their contracted service obligations and legal standards and improve the procurement, fuel and tyre efficiency and drive the sustainability agenda of the fleet. To give leadership to a Senior Management team and to manage a function that provides co-ordination and control of activities across c.200 drivers, 180 vehicles and 120 operating locations across England & Wales. To provide liaison between Managing Directors and Senior Managers and the operation, proactively supporting the needs of both through the provision of updates and information. As a Leader, to participate in the organisation's leadership, management and to play an active role in upholding the group's values, approach to those they are responsible for and to ensure they have a safe and supportive environment for all their people. The ideal Logistics Director will have the following skills and experience: Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence holder (Road Haulage or Road Passenger Transport) holder How to operate within a multi-site environment Multi-site vehicle operations How to influence and persuade at all levels both internally and externally Understanding of Health & Safety obligations and an ability to assess risk and make corporate-level risk-based decisions Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders Personal resilience and desire to deliver excellence Able to achieve security clearance to required level Self-motivated and tenacious Clear, analytical thinking with a natural predisposition to base decision making objectively and based on evidence Ability to balance the natural tension between service delivery and cost Ability to think clearly when dealing with multiple and often conflicting priorities Strong people person with the innate belief in delivering high standards of care and welfare to vulnerable individuals Strong and well-developed customer service ethos Acts as an exemplar for the corporate values, ensuring standards of conduct and discipline are beyond reproach Creates a climate of participation, trust and respect - Team Player within their team and across other teams Sets high personal standards by example Excellent leadership and influencing skills at all levels to ensure effective impact and desired outcomes Personal resilience and willingness to find solutions and deal with the problem at hand
